This weekend I was in the Poconos, PA at my brother from another mother’s home.😊 He and his wife have a beautiful big home on 5 acres and nature is all around. They always go out of their way to make me feel so welcomed and at home and always try to find new adventures for us to enjoy. He feeds the deer and wild turkeys daily and refers to them as ”his” turkeys and deer. The video below will help you understand how much nature is around and see all of “his” nature babies. C & K love you!
The Poconos offers more than just romantic couple resorts and skiing. It’s a very laid back and relaxing town and just 90 minutes from New York City. In the Winter there are a lot of resorts and businesses that offer skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, snowmobiling, other winter activities and indoor water parks. In the Summer, water parks, pools, lakes and rivers take over. You can go swimming, river rafting, river tubing, canoeing, fishing and boating. There are parks for picnics, hiking and scenic overlooks.
The Poconos have resorts, hotels and campgrounds to fit everyone’s budget. If you’re not driving there renting a car will make it easy to get around and it will allow you to visit the farmers markets, flea markets, antique shops, restaurants and shopping malls like the Crossings Premium Outlets. One resort to visit is Mount Airy Casino Resort formerly Mount Airy Lodge. It was torn down, remodeled and reopened in 2007. They have beautiful luxury rooms, great dinning, bars, a casino, a golf course and a lovely relaxing spa. There is nightly entertainment from top entertainers, just visit their website: mountairycasino.com to see what live shows are on the calendar and resort information. On one of my visits, my sisters and I won a few hundred dollars at the casino…that was a good night! 😊
During the day when you’re not taking part of the winter or summer activities visit the Foxmor Village flea market. Stop by the “Chicken Lady” and get her fried chicken wings and french fries and if you like spicy make sure to put on some spicy mango sauce…delish! Also there, is the Pocono Bazaar area, which has various local owned shops. I bought some yummy smelling vegan soaps from the Vegan Soap Exchange.
Visiting the Poconos, it is always a new adventure. I’m always left feeling recharged. If you are looking for a quick getaway even if you don’t live in New York City go visit the Poconos, you won’t be disappointed.
